Toddler 1 and 2 room (1-2, 2-3 years old)
Our program is developed to meet the needs of the toddlers – unique knowledgeable, feeling and thinking people. It is important for toddlers to feel safe in their surroundings.
The emphasis in these rooms is on learning social skills throughout play. Through observation we recognize and strive to meet toddler’s emerging skills, as an individual and as a part of the group.
We implement room’s philosophy by providing 1 -3 years old child with high quality play experiences that support initiative, creativity and self esteem. Care givers will allow children the opportunities to be responsible, to make choices and be challenged in our friendly play-centered program.
- General information
In the Toddler’s Room we cater for a max of 15 children per room with 3 staff members (one qualified and two assistants).
- Toilet training
As your child becomes ready for toilet training, they will be given every encouragement by our staff and we will work closely with you to ensure a consistent approach between home and care environment.
- Activities provided:
Our homelike, interesting and varied environment provides consistency and encourages challenges in following areas:
- Gross motor:
Jumping, climbing, hopping, balance beams ball games and bowling during inside and outside playtime to foster development of large muscles.
- Fine motor:
Sorting and threading are good for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. 1.5 – 3 year’s age is a “sorting” phase in child’s development. Sorting can provide quite a time of peace and quiet, as well as laying the foundations for math at school.
- Early math:
Sorting and grouping objects into sets is a major element of early math. Toddlers will benefit from all the practical experience of recognizing common feature to form categories, identifying odd ones out. Children start grouping items by color, then gradually by shapes and sizes.
- Cognitive development:
We promote child’s thinking and explorations by introducing new equipment (puzzles, abacus, blocks) and providing with sensory experiences (for example water, sand, paint), creating a visual display about out world. Rainbow early learning center provides children with wide range of educational materials: shape sorters, Cuisenaire rods, Dienes logic blocks, jigsaws, puzzles, tangrams.
- Arts and crafts:
All sorts of creative art activities included in our curriculum to foster the emerging toddler’s curiosity: play dough, collages, pasting, finger-painting, stamping, and papier-mâché.
- Music:
Every toddler has a sense of rhythm and can also perceive the different sounds making up music. We believe: the more music toddler hears the more it will mean to him. Qualified music teacher helps children to dive into the music world.
