Developmental Learning Centre Rainbow - News |
In October we had a very important visitor from Japan - Makika Tazaki. Makika, the owner and director of the Montessori childcare in Okinawa, found us on the internet thanks to our well-designed web-site.
The Japanese lady wanted to visit Australia and exchange experience with our centre.
She was fascinated by our facilities, really enjoyed the rooms and brand-new equipment.
We had a lovely morning tea together. Mrs Tazaki told us a lot about Montessori approach she implemented in her childcare in Japan.
Japanese educational system is famous for its well – structured program in early learning and special approach to kids under 5 years old. We talk in details about those traditions.
At the preschool age kids are big helpers and it is important to give them opportunities to be useful as well as freedom to explore. For example children in Okinawa Montessori centre take part in routines: washing the dishes in the small sinks, hanging the towers.
Makika answered to our questions about the Kumon method born in Japan and gave us few origami workshops. We decided to organize those creative activities like paper folding in the Rainbow too.
We showed her lots of Russian made educative toys (Matreshka, stacking tower) and the advanced materials in teaching preschool math (tables, blocks in conjunction with Montessori materials).
Natalia Shulina, the director of the developmental learning centre Rainbow, showed Makika Melbourne and suburbs. After this short excursion, Makika took part in our music lesson and flew back to Okinawa.
